How it works
For owner operators thinking about leasing their truck onto a carrier, or already leased on and wondering where their money goes. Upload the independent contractor lease agreement as a PDF or photos, or paste it. Haul Lease On Reader lays out the deal in plain English: how you're paid (percent of linehaul or gross, or cents per mile), whether the fuel surcharge is passed through, who gets detention and stop pay, and when settlements are paid. Every chargeback the carrier can take from your settlements is listed, from insurance and trailer rent to ELD, plates and admin fees, and the app adds up the regular ones into a monthly and yearly total. You'll see the escrow amount, how it's built, whether it earns interest and when you get it back, each insurance coverage with who provides it and what it costs you, and how either side can end the lease. Then it checks the lease against the 12 things the federal Truth in Leasing rule (49 CFR 376.12) says it must spell out, marking each covered, unclear or missing, and lists anything worth a closer look before you sign. It reports what the lease says; it isn't legal advice.
