How it works
For funeral directors serving a veteran's family, and families who want to know what their veteran earned. Upload the DD-214 (or an NGB-22 or older discharge paper) as a photo or PDF, and answer a few questions: was their passing service connected, was the veteran getting VA disability compensation or pension, did they pass away in VA care, and where will they be laid to rest. Tribute Veterans Benefits reads the branch, rank, service dates, net active service, character of discharge, decorations and wartime service, and the app works through the usual VA and military rules to show which benefits the veteran likely qualifies for and which the VA will need to decide: burial in a VA national cemetery, a government headstone, marker or medallion, the burial flag, military funeral honors with the flag folding and Taps, a Presidential Memorial Certificate, and the VA burial allowance. Each comes with what it includes, how to get it, the VA form (21P-530EZ, 40-1330, 27-2008, 40-0247) and a link to the VA, plus a short, kind summary for the family. Discharge or service length issues are explained instead of guessed. The VA and the military make the final decision.
The VA and the military branch decide eligibility. This shows what the DD-214 likely qualifies for.
