How it works

For funeral directors who write obituaries late at night after a full day with families. Type or paste the facts from the arrangement conference the way you took them down: name, dates, parents, spouse, children and grandchildren, school, military service, work, church, what they loved, who preceded them in death, the visitation and service, and where memorials should go. Pick a tone, from warm and personal to traditional or faith filled. Tribute Obituary Writer writes three versions in the usual order: a tighter obituary for the newspaper, a full obituary for your website and the online guest book, and a two or three sentence death notice for social media or the radio. It never invents a survivor, a job or a date, spells every name exactly as you gave it, and lists anything to check with the family before it's published. The age is worked out from the dates of birth and passing, and a mismatch is flagged. Enter the newspaper's rate (per line, per word, per column inch or flat) and the photo fee, and the app counts the words and lines and works out what the paper will charge, so the family knows before it runs.
