How it works
For funeral homes taking an insurance assignment to pay for a funeral, and families wondering whether a policy will cover it. Upload the life insurance policy, verification of coverage or the signed insurance assignment form, and enter the funeral bill. Tribute Insurance Assignment Reader pulls out the insurer, policy number, insured, owner, issue date, policy type and status, the face amount, rider benefits and outstanding loans, the beneficiaries and their shares, and the amount assigned to the funeral home. Then the app works it out: the death benefit payable after loans, any graded (reduced) benefit for a death in the policy's first years, how much goes to the funeral home, what's left for the beneficiaries, and anything still owed on the bill. It flags what can hold up payment: a death inside the two year contestable period, a lapsed policy, missing beneficiary signatures or a name mismatch, and lists what the insurer needs to pay the claim. Social Security numbers are never copied.
It reports what the policy says. The insurer decides what it pays.
