How it works
For junk haulers who get stuck with items the landfill won't take or charges extra for. Enter your town and the items you run into (or leave it blank for the usual list: mattresses, tires, refrigerators and freezers, window AC units, TVs and monitors, paint, propane tanks and car batteries). Junk Removal Special Items looks up your city and county solid waste rules, the local landfill and transfer station, your state's rules and nearby recycling programs. For each item you get how it's handled (landfill, recycle only, special drop off or not accepted), the rule in plain words, where to take it, the fee when a source lists one, and a link to the source. It also points out things that save you money, like a free household hazardous waste day or a mattress recycling program. If it can't find rules for your area, you aren't charged.
