How it works

For electricians who want to pass the first time. Describe the job (“replace a 100 amp panel with 200 amp, move the meter, add a 50 amp EV circuit in the garage”), the city and state, and whether it's residential. Electrical Permit Checklist lists what usually goes on the permit application, then a checklist grouped by stage (before you start, rough in, service or panel, final) of what inspectors commonly look at for that kind of job: grounding and bonding, working clearances, panel labeling, AFCI and GFCI protection, conductor and breaker sizing, box fill, tamper resistant receptacles and more, each with a one line reason. It notes anything to coordinate with the electric utility, like a disconnect and reconnect for a service change. It's general guidance; your city's adopted code edition and the inspector's call govern, and it says so.

General guidance. Your local adopted code and the inspector govern.
